Recovery Corner
Welcome!
This page contains short shares targeted towards different recovery-related topics. All audio recordings are from OA fellows and members who share their experience, strength, and hope when dealing with different aspects of life and ourselves.
Currently, there are 4 topics to choose from. Over time, we’re looking to have this list of topics grow and evolve. Our topics include:
- What would I have wanted to hear when I was a newcomer?
- What do I do when I’m bored with my food plan?
- What do I do when I experience sudden cravings?
- How do I handle my emotions? When I’m angry? When I’m anxious? When I’m afraid?
This page is an initial experiment and a trial run. At this point in time, there is only one person’s share listed as an example. The audio clips are listed and available below. The name of the topic is in each audio clip’s file name.
The goal is to have fellow members record themselves and then, submit their recordings. Once we have 4 to 5 submissions on a particular topic, a new compilation clip will be made at which point, they will be posted to this page.
We’d love to hear your share! Scroll below for further instructions on recording and submitting your audio clip.
Instructions to play / listen to audio clip
To listen to a clip, select a topic in a playlist and then, on the Play (
) button to listen to the recording.
After the recording ends, the next recording in the playlist will automatically begin to play. You can press the shuffle (
) icon to play the recordings in a random (versus sequential) order.
To download a recording, right click on the download (
) icon (for those on a Mac, press the control key while holding down on the mouse to see the right-click menu). Select Open with iTunes or Download Linked File.
Note: You will need to stop playing a recording in one playlist before playing a recording from another playlist to prevent overlapping of audio tracks.

Instructions to record and submit your audio clip
To record and submit an audio clip
The easiest way to record on a computer is to use Zoom. Even if you don’t have a paid account, all accounts are allowed up to 40 minutes for free.
Open the Zoom app and click on “New Meeting”. Once you’re logged in, you can click on the “Record” button which you can find along the bottom row of icons. You’ll want to select “Record to this computer” so you have easy access to the file. Start to speak and when you’re done, press “Record” again and then “Stop recording”.
Recordings are not saved until you end and leave the meeting. Files are generally saved in the Documents > Zoom folder on your computer. The audio-only files end in “.m4a” – these are the files you want to submit. Not the video files that end in “.mp4”.
Note that shares should be in the vicinity of 3 to 5 minutes long. They are meant to be short shares targeted towards a specific topic.
Once you have the recording, fill out the form below. The form needs to be filled out for each audio clip that you submit.
